Probably because Cuba has a higher literacy rate than the United States, more doctors, and anybody can get an education, no matter how poor you are.

Because he intimidates his whole nation into silence, poverty and ignorance using spies, false imprisonment and murder. We were initially so interested in him because he seemed to be providing a good strategic point from which Russia could attack us in the Cold War. We've pretty much lost interest in him at this point, compared to the "good ol days".

Well, We love China and they are communist so Cuba being communist should be that important. I would say the USA Government hates him because he showed the USA he is stonger and tougher that the USA.
