Its true comfort and protection matter more than the brand, but with the good brands come all of that. Nike and Adidas, from my first hand experience are best. You dont have to the get the latest editions of their shoes of course. Just get some quality ones.

i like to buy Nikes but i dont suppose any of the shoes are that much better if you just go by brand. The lightness of the shoe and the looks are what most go for. Hyperdunks are good and the Kobe 4's are good shoes for those two categories

The brand is not as important as comfort and support
High tops will help to reduce ankle injuries, while obviously regular shoes will not. Try to get lighter shoes so that you don't feel like you are dragging cement shoes after an hour of running

nike, adidas or reebok make the best basketball shoes.. above the rim isn't too bad but theyre built more for style and not basketball

I would go with Nike but no matter what brand I would go with high tops. I am paying for it now by not wearing high tops when I played. Crap catches up with you when you start getting old...

every year my basketball team gets nike hightops because they give ankle support but like they said it doesn;t have to be the latest just some that will hold up.
