The driver's side door won't lock. How do I reset the vandal no-start system? Why won't it start, it ran fine yesterday.

Try using the key to manually turn the drivers side door lock into the lock position from the outside of the car. Then unlock it the same way. The car's ignition cut off switch is preventing it from starting. It has to know that the owner is attempting to get into the vehicle, so you have to use the key.

Same as a first gen Ford Explorer. Basically it is reasonably reliable (for a Ford) but that's about it. Overall it's a mediocre SUV based on the old Ford Ranger chassis. It handles like a pig and has a very floaty ride. Gas mileage is so-so. Power is not great from the V6, but it's adequate. The part time 4x4 system sucks. You hit a spongey feeling button on the dash and if you're lucky 60-75% of the time it will CLUNK into 4WD after you're a mile down the road. Then you have to go in REVERSE to turn it off. Terrible system. I would only recommend going with a 2WD Explorer or Mountaineer and then only if it's had all it's scheduled maintainance and regular oil changes down. In that case it might be a reasonable used car, but there are about 1000 other cars I'd choose first for the same money honestly. If you really want an SUV almost anything Japanese would be a far better choice. Don't take my word for it though, drive them both back-to-back and you'll see.

owners manual at www.fleet.ford.com where you can view them for free.

drivers side won't lock probably because the latch messed up (jamming internally and it won't lock from any kind of way).. kind of a known problem

the vandal no start is probably the ford Pats system on the vehcile you talk of....

Is Theft light flashing when you turn the key on? If yes, Pats issue, if no.. other problems that anti-theft and no way to reset it short of dealer.

Try another key for the no-start if theft light flashing
