Yup. It puts things in perspective, but only for a second. Then it is time to go to bed, get up for work, fill out the income tax form, etc....

Quite a few people here seem to be fatalistic from what they may know of the universe. But don't be! Your studies are trying to tell you that great things are ahead of you. You must not look inward at yourself & get scared. You must continue studying the universe & be amazed. The universe seems to be the vastest parodox. The more our greatest brains determine something, the more stunningly unbelieveable the universe becomes. On past occasions several astronomical physicists, studying some part of the universe, came to conclusions that astonished themselves so much, that they rejected their own conclusions. Then other later scientists came to the same conclusions...& published the conclusions. Thereby the original discoverers failed to get credit! Yes, people make up fictional stories, but the strangest stories are the true ones! That is why all of us must study & not be discouraged. We must not forsake our own thoughts because we do not know what truth we can find in ourselves. We must study & not be surprised that we are amazed. & if we discover much much greater things than ourselves...so much the better.

Sure I do. There are different levels. everything in the universe has a different level. Dung beatles roll sh*t around all day & that is there life. some people just hope they wake up the next day. Some people think they are everything & nothing else matters. Somepeople realize that we are a tiny species in a HUGE universe & our little worries are actually nothing at all. Hope that made sense: thinking too much.

Yeah, all the time...
It's diconcerting to know the decisions we take and the actions we do have such a major effect on our lives and on the lives of those around us...and yet, mean nothing to the wide universe. Nothing to the perpetual movements of the heavens, which begam before the birth of the human race and will undoubtedly continue aeons after our extinction...
Amazing...

Oh yes. There's nothing quite like contemplating infinity to make you realise quite how small and finite we all are. I get the same sensation walking on a beach and considering the grains beneath my feet. And as a chemist I struggle to even begin to get my head around the number of molecules in a single drop of water.

if (i say if) we were the only soucre of inteligent life in the universe, perhaps the universe needs our awareness to exist and the worries and troubles are all a part of that existance.
however if you think that the size of the universe make us tiny insignificant beings you should consider the size of the propose MULTIVERSE - infinite number of parallel or alternative universes, now that concept knocks me sideways

That's true, but its a matter of perspective. If you lived in the wilds of Africa or Australia, your cares and concerns wouldn't be on owning a house, having a good education for your kids, buying a better car, and generally keeping up with the Jones' - but just living day to day.
Though, living in the wild might also give you more time to sit back and contemplate just how insignificant we are in the grand scheme of things. Where was it you said you live? ;)

of course.
that's why i dont ever stress or worry.
my life is completely insignificant and pointless. one day, i will die, and everyone i know will die, and there wont even be a MEMORY of me left on the earth. but the human race will go on, and earth will still be a rock, flying through space, orbiting the sun.
my life doesnt matter. but that doesnt mean i shouldnt enjoy it and be happy while i can. we have so little time, it's just not worth wasting what little life you have stressing and worrying.
you have to love life while you can, and squeeze every ounce of happiness out of it.

Yes, I do. We are Earth are just one planet with life. Why should we worry about little stuff when there is so much more out there?
