keep seeking answers from us on "Q's and A's" when they should be doing their own homework? I understand they need help, I am a teacher myself, and I know there are plenty of other sites to get answers they can also trust. We don't always provide the right answers on this site. Would you agree? Their education is of vital importance...

I absolutely appreciate the first five answers so far. I know the first negative will have to come from a child who totally disagrees with me...

This may not be the answer you're looking for, but I think it's the same lack of conscience that allows a higher number of kids to cheat on exams. More kids cheat now than ever before. There are entire websites devoted to giving students the answers to homework questions, and unfortunately I think many teachers today do not demand to see the student's work to see how they arrived at the answers. Just providing the answer alone seems to satisfy most teachers today.
It seems there's been a negative paradigm shift in teaching approaches over the last 30 years. For example, even when I was a kid, our teachers didn't teach us to read. Rather, they taught us to "recognize" words. In other words, we were shown the word as a whole, and expected to memorize how it looked, but never taught WHY it looked (or was spelled) that way. As a result, many kids from my generation CANNOT SPELL now as adults, but they don't understand why, or even think this is a bad thing.
Luckily, my mother taught me Phonetics, and by the time I was 6, I knew not only how to properly construct words and sentences (sound it out), but I could read and comprehend at a 5th Grade level at age 6.
If more parents took a proactive role in their kids' education, rather than just leaving it up to the public schools (which are now only glorified daycare centers), we'd have a better-educated future.

I agree. I'm also a teacher, and I am amazed at how many kids put questions on this site that they could EASILY find by either a.) looking in a textbook or b.) googling on the internet. I've noticed that at this site the questions are not always answered seriously, nor correctly. Which is why I have to look here (among other places on the internet) when I get answers on homework that seem to be out of left field......

i would tend to agree with you.
If kids pose a question here and then take an answer found here and turn it in, they are not only doing themselves a disservice by not doing the work but they also should not be too surprised when they get a low score on homework they could have easily completed on their own.

I notice a lot of questions are ones that if researched could provide quite a good answer. Children now a days don't like to do anything for themselves. They've become lazy and uniterested in "hard work pays off". Sad..

I don't answer those questions. My advice to them is to pay attention in class. I think this a common practice because the kids are in a hurry to get it all done so they can go on "my space" or something. They just don't realize that homework is assigned for a reason, mostly to check their progress. Sad

Just a scam to have others do the work that they are suppose to be responsible for. My question would be were are their parents and why are they not ensuring that their children are doing their homework before being allowed to play on computer.

yeah. they could look up the information just as easily as anyone answering their question.

sometimes I ask such questions though, to see if anyone has any expertise in the subject. they could possibly give me better information than any website, or at least easier to understand.
