Tailgaiting is arriving at the game some times the day beforethe game if your arriving in a RV. But for me it's driving to the game like 4 or 5 hours early for a good parking spot close to the gate and getting set in a spot with other friends tailgaiting. We set you a BBQ grill for some burgers, dogs and other eats. We have some beers or pepsi's do some eating and drinkin. And toss the football. And get hyped for the game. Then walk around and make some new friends, crash some other tailgaters and generally have a great time before the game. I haven't been to a NASCAR race but I would assume it's pretty much the same. Maybe a little more on the tame side though.

Tailgating originally meant just what it says. Partying on the tailgate of a pickup before, after, and sometoiems during a game or race. Now days it has gotten much bigger with people setting up campsites with travel trailors and big smokers. Sometimes not even involving a tailgate. Having an all out party outside of the gates of a sporting event. Some tailgating is so fun that many people don't even plan on going to the game they just go and tailgate during it.

Tailgating is the party outside sometime before the "event", in the parking lot. Usually with family, friends, and/or other fans on or in the back of pick-up trucks, SUV's, cars, RV's and modified buses. Mostly good food, good beverages, good people and good times. Everything from hotdogs and hamburgers to gourmet meals made with your normal small backyard BBQ grills, garage built trailer cookers to huge lavish portable kitchens. Whether it's Football, NASCAR, Baseball or any sporting event, you can normally find a tailgating party somewhere so, if you get the chance try it, it's a blast.

Its so fun! You get with other fans and drink beer, grill out and eat, socialize before the sporting event- Actually I've only done this before a football game. Usually its in the parking lot of where the game is and some people even camp out the night before or after.
Being an Arkansas Razorback Fan this is a big event and some people will listen to the game on the radio and "tailgate" the hole game. Its so much fun-if you havent done this before you need too!

it's taking a grill and a cooler full of beer to the game or race. at football games, fans get there a few hours early and 'tailgate' in the parking lot, cooking, eating, and drinking. at NASCAR races, tailgating is usually more of a weekend long thing. when i go to a sunday race, i usually get there friday and camp out and tailgate all weekend.
hey jamal, FYI: there's nothing tame about NASCAR tailgating, it makes football tailgating look like a sunday school meeting.

It is the ritual of getting together with friends/family before the event, socializing, grilling-out, playing catch, drinking (usually beer) and generally having fun - even with people you may have never met before.
The name 'tailgating' comes from the fact that it used to happen from the back of someones truck, but now I see that a great number of people bring their minivans and SUV's.....or in a lot of the bigger events (big time college or pro football and NASCAR) their campers............WOW!

Tailgating is a practice where red-necks and sports-freaks meet in the parking lot of a stadium before a game/race and get so drunk they miss the kickoff/start of the race due to tunnel vision.
