Speak with your doctor. It is not a good idea to feed babies food until they are about a year old. They can have rice cereal perhaps some strained fruit but introducing food into a baby's diet is like opening a can of worms for allergies and digestive problems, so it has to be done slowly one food at a time for several days to see if the baby tolerates the food item, this is so you know what to avoid if it does not set well with your baby's system.

If !-it is soft 2-he has experience with the kinds of textures of tablefood 3-you don't give him something that is likely to cause allergies such as milk, peanut butter, tomato, etc. 4-you only introduce one new food every few days, and 5-he has been eating baby food for 2-3 months already., then I would go ahead and do it. Otherwise, wait a couple more months

Recent studies have shown that the most common food for kids by the time they're 2 are french fries, so be careful, you don't want a junk food eater. I started with veggies, peas, carrots, sweet potatoes, brocoli (all steamed) and then went to bananas and soft fruits. Gerber makes puffs and my daughter (21 mos) really likes Kashi mighty bites and Goldfish, but those require teeth. No milk products until a year old b/c they're not as high in nutrition as breast milk or formula. And then only whole milk. I give my daughter whole milk yogurt and cottage chesse. HTH.

My son didn't have teeth either at that age, But I still fed him soft table foods. They are more filling to a baby at that age then baby food is. Try mashed potatoes with just a tiny bit of gravy or butter. Soft crackers like Ritz or town house butter crackers. Noodles like Top Ramen crushed VERY small. Anything soft. My son at this age was eating all kinds of stuff.

Yes. I started feeding my kids table food at about 5 months old. Once you start they wont hardly eat baby food any more though. Who can blame them, that stuff is nasty. The only thing don't feed them peanut butter or honey until their first birthday because of allergies

yes you can - what worked for us - we did what is called the baby bird method - basically whatever we were eating we would chew up a bit of it until it was soft and mushy and then feed it to our boys- now im sure most ppl will thinks that is gross but i have to tell you i never had a problem w/ a fussy eater - they all eat everything from rice & beans and steak to squash and zucchini.
that way they get a taste for good flavorfull foods not the nasty crap that comes in the baby food jars. or you can take whatever you make and put it in a food processor and get it nice and mushy that way.
Good luck and have fun.

start w mashed potatos and gravy.seems in this day and age everyones answer is "ask your dr". Do you think your mom or grandmother asked the Dr questions like this? Do what you think is best. Munchkin has this little thing out that has a tiny mesh holder on it costs about 3 dollars at walmart that you can put tablefood in and the child can taste it and get the texture of it but can NOT swallow it. my son is 5 months {adjusted age of 4 months} and he uses it just fine and has had no problems w mashed potatos, pudding, chocolate silk pie..lol

6months is when it is recommended to start solids with babies. By solids, I mean the bland baby cereal mixed with formula/breast milk. If you decide to start experimenting with soft foods, make sure to introduce only one food at a time per week. This will help you determine if your child may have an allergy to any foods.
Definately talk to your pediatrician about this. He/She will give you a list of foods to try and a time table to help you with the introduction of new foods into your baby's diet.

Get a baby food grinder they work great, try the Gerber site I think they still sell them or you could use a food processor and puree you table food be careful not to over season the food.
