well depending on the math at hand, if its going to be engineering type of math then a TI-89 Titanium is the way to go. If its just general calculus and algebra and stuff then the good ole TI-83 or TI-84 will suffice. But the 89 is good for calculus 2 and up, physics and stuff like that.

I used a TI-89 when I was an undergrad electrical engineering student...it came in really handy at times!

After thinking about this for a moment, the professors probably wouldn't let you use a TI-89 on tests because it can basically do the exam for you! I would check with the university first.

They had to grant an approximate answer, and that they actually sniveled approximately having to place it in right values. One individual in the type became an older guy who became already working in an electric powered interest. He informed each physique that no person makes use of the right values in genuine existence artwork, and he and the instructor have been given into arguments approximately using the calculator for all solutions. the instructor needed him to understand the tutorial value of right values, and that guy in simple terms felt he knew greater desirable than the instructor. I questioned why he did no longer in simple terms depart the type if he felt like he knew all of it as long as he used a calculator.

If you're allowed to use a programmable graphing calculator then a TI-86 is great and you can get one really cheaply on Ebay.
If you're not allowed a programmable calculator then TI-30XA is good for just simply exponiental and square root equations but it's not very advanced.
