Using lexar jumpdrive, memorex travel drives, pny attache flash drive with Windows XP older computers. When plugged into USB port a notice that it would work faster if plugged into faster port flash at the bottom. However, the drives don't open automatically as they do on my newer laptop/desktop. Under my computer they don't show as any drive - anywhere. I can't get them to open using any method I know. I've tried to open saying a drive letter but since I don't know what drive - if any the drive has attached to I am unable to do so. I was told to try to download drivers but when I have found the driver for that drive it says XP doesn't need the download. Is there a way to get these drives to be openable/accessable.

Try the USB ports in the back of the PC near the keyboard connection, not the ones in the front of the PC.

sounds like your PC motherboard is old, and is using USB1.1 which is slow. The newer drives are designed for USB2.0, but it should work.
