You can try coating the ring surface that comes in contact with your skin with clear nail polish to protect it from the oils, and acid on your skin. It will wear off eventually and have to be reapplied.

I have this same problem because I am allergic to a lot of metals. The best thing I've thought of to do is coat the inside of the ring with clear nail polish. The metal itself will not touch you so your finger will not turn green and it will cause no damage to the ring or the way it looks!

Usually if a ring turns your finger green it is a very low karat ring or was poorly alloyed. But some people react to the alloys (copper, nickel, zinc) and their fingers will turn green with 18k jewelry. You cant get a ring made out of 24 karat because pure gold is to soft. You could take it to a local jeweler to see if they could plate it with either rhodium or yellow gold, depending on the color of the ring. This should help and will give the ring a nice new look.

Sure there is. 1. Don't but fake jewelry, 2. If you have to buy it, then take clear nail polish and cover the ring. That's the trick I used when I was still buying the fake stuff. After a while though the polish wears off and you have a big mess. So think about investing in some real jewelry. It's a lot better and more fun!

if the ring is making ur skin green u really shouldn't wear it. but if u still wanna wear it the u can paint the inside of the ring with a coat of transparent nail polish.

Coat the inside of the ring with clear nail polish. If you begin to see green again, add another coat. It works wonders!

yup, coat the ring with a coat of clear nail polish and allow to dry, that way the material of the ring will not be against your skin ... used to do it when I was a teeny bopper and bought all my fake funky rings from Claire's stores like that will definitely get you ready for Halloween with all the green fingers you will have from wearing their jewelry.

Well, in general buying very pure metals works well, too.... 24 karat gold instead of 10 karat, like that.

Since it's your mom's old ring, tho... if the suggestions here don't work, contact a jeweller and ask for suggestions from them.

spray it with urethane, or put clear nail polish on it You could also try one of those silver or gold dip things that coat any metal with pure silver or gold. that would also make it look brand new
