I constantly do a scan check almost daily, I see someone created registries and there are spies, (through Lavasoft) what could it be?
DSL is slower than it should be, is this normal or should I be concerned? I have at&t/yahoo (formerly sbc) I also get a blank page very often when working on emails. Any suggestions? Thanks

I gave up on DSL because it is so slow. Get high-speed. It is 1000x better!

Typically DSL supports UP TO a certain level (here in the UK it's mostly 8Meg).

This relies on three things:

1. Line quality: If you have a poor quality line your DSL signal will suffer.

2. Distance: The further away you are from your local operators equipment the less likely you are to get the full speed.

3. Contention: The more folks there are in your neighbourhood with DSL from the same provider as you, the slower things get as they all start to use it as they are contending (techy speak for "sharing") for the same bandwidth as you. Typical contention rates are between 20 and 50:1.

DSL slow speeds could be related to your contention ratio...this means the amount of people using your bandwidth.

If you find its faster at different times then call your supplier.
Make sure your machine is not running at a high CPU usage and that its not riddled with viruses as it could be simple as a computer issue.

Could be a trojan program that runs a server program on your computer. Try using Spyware Doctor scan, and Get a good firewall like Zone Alarm or use Bit Defender.
