You must have your green card and have been a permanent resident for at least a year in order for most life insurance companies to provide you with coverage. Most life insurance companies will not provide coverage for temporary residents, including anyone with a work permit or visa, permanent residents without their green card, or green card applicants who have not yet received their green card.
