That is what is perplexing me. On the one hand, they have allowed a large of officers to go on VRS paying a hefty pensionary benefit and on the other hand, they are again recruiting new officers.

It may be wise for the Government to do so if it helps reduce expenditure and makes the PSU profitable and healthy. It may not be beneficial for an employee to retire with a one time payment whose amount depends on the years of service that an employee has put in. Obviously employees with lesser number of years of service will be more disadvantaged. However, since you are talking about VRS, no employee can be forced to retire per se.

If govt feel that it is social in approach than imposing VRS is a crime else MIGHT is RIGHT.
VRS can not be enforced. However OFFICIALS can perspire employees by transfering to remote locality or by suspending on one pretext or other.
BE wise & improve your skills to create your demand outside the prsent assignments!!!!!

It is voluntary; there is no compulsion.
When there are more people in an organisation than required, and if some of them want to leave on their own, what is wrong with the VRS?
