Nowadays, yes, it just seems like its part of the ceremony. I think it depends on the officiant of the ceremony and the people attending.

But really, if you have qualms about you or someone else's impending nuptials, better to tell them now than in front of a room full of hungry wedding guests.

Yeah, I don't think you want to stand up at their ceremony and state your concerns. =) You might want to voice your opinions privately, to the bride and\or groom. =) At their wedding they are probably recording everything and that wouldn't be a very nice memory. ;) Also, it would put them on the spot and feel very awkward.
