Ask for quotes from a number of jewelers.
Look for gem shows in your area. While most of the vendors there are not interested in small quantities, This is wheere you will have your best chance of finding someone looking for just one or two stones, and willing to pay fair value for them.
If you have a flea market in your area you might try offering them for sale there, or consigning them to a reputable vendor.

If you're not able to find a way to sell the stones reasonably, you may want to consider keeping them and design something for yourself. Lots of jewelry stores offer custom design shows where you can take your stuff in and choose a mounting for it. Then, if you decided to sell that, maybe you could make a little bit more since the jewelry would already be in wearable condition.

See if your area has a university with a jewelry and metalsmithing program. Contact the instructor in charge of it, and see if they would like to arrange a visit so their students can do some shopping. You will have to identify and price each stone, but it's one way you can get the stones off your hands. We had a guy at my school visit to sell us stones, so it should work, if you can get it set up. You could also try any local jewelers to see if they could use some stones.

u can try a jewelry store or a bead store or u can go to a couple of craft shows and see if anyone is interested. i don't know what u mean by give them away but if u don't know what they r and what they r worth, then it will probably b hard to get rid of them for any real price. good luck.
