We want to build a garage on our house - can we build it ourselves with the cost on our own small construction Company? Surely we don't have to find another Co to do the work when we have the tools, labour etc., Any ideas?

as long as you get a permit and have it inspected, your town probably will not care.

If you own the business, you can charge yourself whatever you want for the job (including nothing). The company takes the cost and you lose that in profits. Or you hire the job out to your own company and pay yourselves.

You should not just do it and not account for it.

Yes. Just be sure you charge yourself. like any other customer. The price will raise the value of your home when it is time to sell. See your accountant about giving yourself a rebate afterwards
