Wanting what's best for one's country and having pride in one's country. Democrats probably are more patriotic than Repubs because they are trying to help the majority of Americans, not just the rich/elite. Questioning the government used to be a patriotic notion - indeed during the revolutionary war, the patriots valued free speech and speaking out against the king as their most precious freedom. This has change over the years into what we have now which is more of a "love it or leave it" idea and that isn't actually very patriotic - it feels more like a dictatorship where you are punished for speaking your mind

I feel a patriot is someone who loves their country enough to take a stand when said countrys government is leading them in the wrong direction.
Our government should not define patriotism for us, Our constitution says when our system of government no longer works we should tear it down and rebuild it. Well its not working anymore.
Of course a democrat can be a patriot. A republican sees the world as it is and thinks how can I use this to my advantage to benefit me, and a democrat sees the world as it is and thinks wouldnt it be nice if i could do something to make this world a better place.

Can a Republican be a patriot? when he robs from the poor to give to the rich and violates all the civil rights set out by the founding fathers.
Does murdering people in a foreign country make you a patriot?
Does lieing to the people about why you are there make you a patriot? To date we don't even know what the Democrats stand for but could they be any worst than the Republicans who we know stands for. The rich.

Patriot - A fellow countryman - someone devoted to a fatherland. But also used as someone who introduces disturbance in a government.

Democratic - from DEMOS - common people KRATOS - rule strength.

I don't see why a democrat cannot be patriotic. Pretty weird question actually.

Democrats just have to redefine it. To them undermine the war is patriotic. The patriotic part of that is if the US loses they will gain political power that is rightfully theirs. Since they will make it a better country then it is patriotic to cause the loss of a war.

Anyone can be patriotic...to me its believing in & supporting your Country..
Pride in your Country seems to be a dying art these days...The Government of your Country is the prime representative of what a Nation stands for,as well as the Military troops, sadly some tend to forget that...

Democrats are definitely patriots, just as Republicans are. My definition is simple: You believe in the democratic system with healthy skepticism while protecting it with your life. Also, you must vote for common sense not the actor.
