I have just graduated college and am trying to get out of my mom's house. The employer says the avg. income is 80,000 which is probably exagerated. Also I am supposed to bring a check for 250$ with me to pay for a background check and other things. Isnt the employer supposed to pay for that?

Yeah, It's a scam. You shouldn't have to pay for that. Run for the hills, FAST!!!

Excellent question, you will soon learn that when applying for a job that consists of extra curricular advancements with a high income status, with that of which is in the insurance field, you are technically in business for yourself as an independent contractor- this should have already been told to you before. But that's why you do your own background and maybe even drug screen. All the sales you make will only go to that company, (NOT TO THE BUSINESS IT SELF!) the business gets an income off of the amount of sales averaged from each independent contractor like yourself! And you get a percentage of each sale YOU make. and the person hiring you is the one that chose to be bold enough to hire people under him or her, and all he does is interview people like you all day, and get the percentage of the average income from insurance policies sold under him through you and your co-workers! Different companies give different percentages. Do I think it's a good idea?------ Yes most definitely, I am an insurance agent- just started two weeks ago, the money is real- It ain't no joke! You are making a good move!! Oh yeah, I'm only 21!

I'd keep looking...Thats seems like alot for a background check, considering you can do 1 on the internet yourself for $15. And commission is a percentage of what you sell and it has a tendency to be a really cut throat deal. So don't expect much help from anybody while you learning what your doing. I'd definately do research on this outfit before I handed them the $250.Cause once that check leaves your hand, you aint gettin' it back if you change your mind about werking for them.
