Contact the registry office where the marriage took place to get a copy of the marriage certificate. There will be information on the website of your local council. The same applies when getting a copy of your birth certificate - apply to the council where the birth was registered. There will be a charge for both these services.

I know that in the state of Illinois you can get certified copies of birth certificates at the local Vital Records department. And vertification of marriage. For a marriage license you would have to go to the county building for the county you were or want to be married in.

You can get these from the Registers office of the district where you were born - they charge you though - think it's about £15 a certificate.

Check with the courthouse of the county or parish where you were born or married. Also, some states maintain a central repository for information like this. Check with your state's Secretary of State office.
