Type "ballroom" and "foxtrot" and all other names into wikki, you will see a lot of info.
Good glossary of terms is on www.ballroomdancers.com

Foxtrot was originally danced to a variety of different tempos. What survived nowdays is Slowfox and Quickstep. Slowfox is AKA International Foxtrot. There is also American foxtrot which is danced to a slightly faster music than Slowfox. You can find typical tempi on www.usadba.org (see Rules and Bylaws)

Foxtrot teaches you to move in a very controlled, smooth way. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tVV3NpDcZIA&mode=related&search= It looks like not a big deal, but it is reagrded as one of the hardest dances in Standard.
