I don't think that anyone has the answer to that question....I believe it was Kathryn Hepburn who said 'I don't believe that anyone knows what happens to us when we die' and Tom Robbins wrote 'the dead are laughing' (presumeably because they have all the answers......
that being said....I tend to agree with your philosophy...with a background in biology..it tends to put my mind into a position of evolution....which is my take on what you are saying...that we are here to ensure the betterment, enhancement and continuation of the species.

Laudible thought but not all of us are not mentally gifted enough to be research scientists and therefore able to evolve technology, which is just as well otherwise other aspects of life would get ignored/neglected. Whilst I love technological advances, they are not the be all and end all.
So, over a lot of years I have come to believe that the purpose of life is an evolutionary process to, hopefully, a better understanding of the 'essence' of who we are . I am not a relgious nut, in fact I learned at about 16 that most religion is organised for the benefit of a certain type of human being. The human race will not advance by evolved technology alone, it should go had in hand with evolved human thinking at the individual level otherwise technology will take over rather than compliment over existance.

Good answer- mine would be to grow spiritually-however it works best for the individual-and as long as its not hurting others (obvious) That includes respect for others, your health, the enviornment and never stopping in our quest for knowledge and personal growth.

Why do you need one? It's up to you to decide what the purpose is. No one else can do it for you.
