i keep hearing about it but not enogh to get the whole story! isn't she adopting? i can't spell sorry.

They have adopted a boy from a foreign country, but the rest of the world feels as though she didn't go through the legal chain. I guess they would rather him starve to death. They said that they are not suppose to adopt out to people who do not live in the country. I thought it was sweet, I guess I am the only one.

She went to a foreign country and took a kid out of poverty, basically adopting it from the father. The father went on the news, saying how great it was that his son was going to have a chance and wealth, blah blah blah.
Then the media starts having a fit because madonna adopted a child with a family instead of going and getting an orphan like angelina joline did, that was she could be considered a saint as she is as well, lol.
Now the father is trying to say he did not realize that she was adopting him, because he can not read. Even though he made all of the comments talking about the great new life he would have.
It is all a bunch of bull if you ask me, when anyother celeb adopted a child they where great, not madonna does it and shame on her?? And the poor dad wanting to play the victim?? Sounds like a media field day

Here's how it went down - keep in mind that a lot of it is alleged, meaning it may or may not be true.

1. Madonna was originally planning on adopting a child in the USA.

2. She had dinner with Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, who reportedly convinced her to adopt a child from a third-world country.

3. The adoption agency in the US was surprised, and said "They were well into the adoption process. They were fingerprinted and went through an interview as part of our evaluation procedures. We were surprised when they lost interest. They seemed incredibly keen.”

4. In Malawi (Africa), Madonna did a humanitarian visit, and at the same time chose a child to adopt: a boy living in an orphanage named David Banda. But when she left Africa, he was not with her, which raised a lot of eyebrows. Note that David Banda's mom died, and his father is too poor to support him.

5. "Malawian officials said Madonna had been granted an interim order to adopt Banda and could be given a waiver or exemption allowing her to skirt a law that prohibits non-residents from adopting Malawian children." The boy's father was quoting saying that he supports the adoption and that Madonna is a kind lady.

6. Some people stirred up a fuss about Western celebs adopting third-world kids, calling it "a platform for misplaced, publicity-fuelled altruism."

7. There was a huge amount of controversy from human rights groups, who know that international adoption is illegal in Malawi, and that Madonna is getting to mess around with the law just because she's famous. "The High Court in Lilongwe will on Friday start hearing the case lodged by the Human Rights Consultative Committee (HRCC), an alliance of 67 human rights groups, which argues current Malawi laws forbid international adoption, even by celebrities."

8. All of the sudden, the boy's father said that he *doesn't* support the adoption; that he was tricked, and that he thought his son was just leaving to be educated, not adopted forever. "Banda told Reuters he signed papers he could not understand, but government officials assured him that the agreement was similar to what he had with the orphanage -- to nurture and educate the boy but not take him away for good. 'I cannot read and write so I relied on what the (government) officials told me that the papers said Madonna would look after the child the way the orphanage planned to educate him and then he comes back to me,'"

9. All of this blows up - the fact that the father says he was manipulated and lied to, that Malawi law says that international people can't adopt, that even *national* adoptions require the parents to stay in Malawi for 2 years to be monitored (which Madonna wouldn't) and the fact that many accuse celebs of using children for good press, or just appropriating someone else's culture without actually helping the nation.

10. Madonna is on Oprah today and is expected to discuss it.

Madona went to some african village and saw some child she wanted to adopt so she gets permission from the child's father (yes aparantly you CAN do that).

The father (who is african) says that he didn't understand the concept of adoption (which is likely) and thought madonna was just going to take the child to america "for a while" and he wants the child back.

It is stupid and I wish madonna would just stop trying so hard to be in the news and fade away.

madonne is trying to adpot a child from an orphanage in africa. the father of the child gave up his rights so the child could get adopted and live a better life. then a few weeks later, i guess he figure out who wanted to apoted his child and decided to stated that he was mistaken and ever agreed to the adoption. but the government of africa now states that the fatehr knew actually want he was doing and the child is allowed to be apoted.

she adopted him, to save him from a life of poverty. he was a motherless child( mom died in birth). he was left with his father , who couldn't afford to even feed him. where the child is from is full of malatia( dominant military officials, very bad and dangerous powerful men). madonna saved that kids whole life!!!
