Why is it that anyone can go out and have 15 babies and nothing is said about the welfare of the child(ren). But as soon as you want to adopt (even if you already have a child or two) you have to just through hoops of fire and do back flips just to be considered?

because normally when children are put up for adobtion they have been through some sort of drama and/or have been past from foster home to foster home so often they dont have a sense of belonging.
The stat wants to make sure that when you adopt a child that you're able to take care of the child and not just half assed sort of speak.
generally speaking if you have kids they are your kids you protect them. With an adopted child you did not carry them and care for them while they were being developed so you dont have that type of bonding that you get when you have a child.

if your trying to adopt a child good luck. I went through the same process about 2 yrs ago w/ a friend of mine. they recieved a precious little girl 3mo ago. it is worth every effort. trust me.

Because it would be a violation of human rights to prevent people from using their natural ablilities to produce offspring.. as unfortunate as that may be sometimes. But, with adoption there is opportunity to ensure that a child gets placed with a loving, well-adjusted, financially stable family. It really is too bad that the natural way can't be policed a little more. You need a license to drive a car but anyone can have a kid.. sometimes I really think that there is something wrong with that.

because when you adopt it is the state's A** on the line if you mess up .. they could give a crap if you have 15 kids and you mess up they will just take them away from you .. but if they let people adopt and do not do thorough back ground checks they can be sued by birth parents or family members if something goes wrong.. when they do the background they have documentation to show they did there part so they are not responsible

Paul Harvey gave a commentary years ago about this very subject. Anyone who is able can get pregnant, but those who really want a child and can provide adequately for it are scrutinized inside out.

The system is twisted, but if your heart truely lies in adopting a child, you'd flip thru whatever hoops you have to, because its worth it.

I don't know but I wish it wasn't this way. I think I'd actually choose to adopt if it wasn't such a grueling process. There are so many children out there that need loving parents.

Because the alternative - uncontrolled adoptions - would see every ponce, nonce and paedophile in the world queuing up for fresh meat.

While I'd had never really considered it, your point is well founded. It does seem to be a bit out of whack/backwards.

It's a backwards system. I hope it gets fixed someday, not fair to those who want to love children compared to lose who are the parents of non-loved children
