I need to purchase a laser printer for a work-at-home office. I do a lot of black and white only printing that I fax and need really good quality, printing that is fast. I have to buy it and expense it...my budget is tight...maybe less than $200.00 - is this realistic? Any suggestions on brand, type etc.

There are several under $200.

Take into account HOW MANY pages it estimates from a toner cartrdge, and the cost of the cartridge also.
Another item is the "drum" lifespan, and replacement cost.

Personally, I am happy with my Panasonic KX-7100, and my step-daughter has a Brother she is happy with.

For good copies, use standard settings and do NOT use the "toner saver" if you have that option.

Might I suggest that you could ALSO use a FAX program on your computer, with a modem, and eliminate the printer "middleman" in the process by faxing directly from the PC.

while you're printing text textile the laser is greater useful. much less splash and greater useful shaped letters. additionally the laser of printing a super form of text textile pages is decrease priced to function. Now in case you pick for to print shade and particularly photographs (no longer each and all of the time yet some) then seem at an inkjet particularly people who're designed for printing photographs. lots of those will print good photographs that are greater suitable to shade lasers output. So if doing a mix of text textile and shade pages the place suitable high quality out placed of shade photographs isn't paramount then seem on the laser as fees would be greater useful. If searching for all around output with some photographs then evaluate an inkjet as photograph high quality is greater suitable to a laser. An inkjet in case you do a super form of printing can value better than a laser yet there back it relies upon on the website coverage and high quality of print. i exploit draft printing regularly and that's good out of my inkjet and that i'm getting hundreds of pages in keeping with cartridge (like the +), so for me the cost isn't that significant.

I have a HP psc 1300 series all-in-one, and am very happy with it. I am a photographer, print my own pictures, and make many different things like cards, calendars, ect. with it. I purchased it at K-Mart for about $125.00 , and I'm not sorry I did.
