This will be the first time she and I have ever gone anywhere together one on one; usually our entire work group gets together for lunches or dinners. I feel stupid for being nervous since i've worked here for well over a year now, but I still am. What are some interesting topics we might discuss?

"The least about work the best".
Try to find out what's his/her hobbies are and research about those topics, study a lot about it, try to show enthusiastic about the theme BUT never try to show that you know more than he/she.
Besides, some themes are always welcome as Family, Economy, Sports.
Hope this helps,

Oscar.

Let her lead the converstaion. She may want to talk to you about something special and that is why she invited you to this lunch without the others. Smile.

I got a question you can ask your boss....When your boss was your age, what were her plans then? And how did she wind up in her position now?

that depends on what interests your boss
is he doing with his life what he'd always dreamed of
what did he dream of doing as a career and now he settled for this
