why do people hate emos so much?

just wondering, is it the style that annoys you?

Mostly because they are whiney and unoriginal. Everyone wants to be different in exactly the same way so that they can feel apart from the "normal" peers (cheerleaders etc) and yet still belong to a community. People can see the hypocrisy of denying convention and yet belonging to a group with specific rules and customs.

Many children go through a period of depression and questioning life and meaning, and this comes out in different ways such as violence, extra curricular activities, sex, or in the case of the emo, lying to themselves that they are different.

1. the sadness/love/death cliches that rule their music, things they say, and how they act.
2. the fact that their style was ripped off from the punk scene and turned into something punk detests.
3. they dress in womens clothes and homophobic people hate that.
4. they spend more time getting ready than their girlfriends do
5. most of them pretend to do 'cool' stuff, like skateboard, play guitar, or otherwise try to embrace punk/rock scenes that they don't understand.
6. we hate them because, despite all of this, there is something about them that girls cannot resist!

I have no problem with them..just b.c thier different doesnt mean ppl should judge them. People have many different problems in thier lives and some people have many difficult problems to deal with. I think they have a lot to deal with and I don't blame them cuz I am emo and thiers nothing wrong with it.

I'd say it's because of the style (at least that's what bothers me, cuz I like the music:)) because they try so much to be different and noticed...eventhough they are all the same just because of that...

i know some cool emo's, but the sterotype emo person buggs cause they all think they're life is horrible and they need to "feel pain" to make it better...when their life is really good! man, that's annoying. And the whole guy's wearing chick pants...ummm....weird. that's my opinion!

Because people care too much about everyone elses opinion!! I think emo is just like being preppy, sporty, punk, skater, nerdy, and anything else that classifies you. People think that emos are just like that for the fact that they are usually depressed; People may think they are just looking for attention and nobody likes people that act that way. Me personally, i think emo is the best personally...they're all about uniqueness and i think thats the best way to be!!!

The whiney music, crappy clothes, and dudes acting like chicks makes me want to vomit. Teenagers just seek attention. They will grow out of it one day and become part of the real world. Its funny how all you little clones want to be different but look like a million other whiney teenagers........ Play dress up with the rest of the little teenie boppers if you want, or act like an adult. Its your choice.

I have no idea. I think it's just that people find them freaky. I dress up like their style (a little), but I'm not depressed and cut myself.. and all that crap. I don't hate them though xD

I don't hate emos themselves,I just hate the stereo type,
I also hate the fact the majority of them are too open about their emotions just for attention.
And by people answering this question they are getting it.
