I just found out yesterday that I am pregnant with my first child. We got pregnant through In Vitro Fertilization. I am currently taking my progestrone shots. My doctor told me that I have to take them until I am 8 weeks along. I don't go back to the doctor until November 8th. I have checked out a few websites and can't find this answer. Some websites say that I should calculate how far along I am from the date that the embryos were implanted into my uterus. Other websites day that I should calculate from the date of the retrieval of the eggs. And other websites say that I should calculate from the first day of my last period. Has anyone who has gotten pregnant through IVF know this answer? The shots are uncomfortable and painful and I can't wait for them to be over.

Go to http://www.ivf.ca/calcu.htm and you enter your date of retrieval and it gives you the expected due date.

Not sure, but I think when you find out you're pg, it's been 2 weeks since fertilization and I would think you're 4-5 weeks pg. It would be calculated like a regular pregnancy, I would imagine. But I don't know!! Call the dr's office and ask the receptionist/nurse. She should be able to answer that for ya! Congrats!!!

The way to calculate your due date, is count back 3 months from your last period, and add 7 days. So your due date would be around Aug 2, 2008. Good luck on your new birth.

I had an IVF, but the results are not yet out. I think you should call your doctor and find out since it could be different from one person to another.

I would assume you go by you last period. Your doctor will count your pregnancy weeks by that point in time.

So you want to keep doing those shots for six weeks.

You should just call your doctor. thats what you pay him for, to give you information.

you REALLY need to call your dr and ask....you shouldn't have to go in -- just talk to dr or nurse on the phone... good luck to you!
