A few years ago, I was really poor and my cat got bit by a snake...I took him to a pet emergency room and they wanted money up front. I didn't have a penny to my name and I was begging them to bill me for it or take a postdated check...they wouldn't. A lady that was in the waiting room with her pet overheard me and paid for my cat to be taken care of. I got her address and mailed her a check a couple of weeks later and she returned the check and told me to "pay it forward".....I'll never forget that lady -- she really helped me in a time of need. :)

One year at Christmas, I was unable to buy gifts for my 4 children because I had lost my job due to layoffs. A group of local people, whom I had never met, went out and bought loads of gifts (not the cheap kind, either) for my kids, and we ended up having one of the best Christmases ever. The next year, I was back on my feet, and me and the kids adopted another family and did the same for them. It was one of the most humbling, exhilarating things we ever did, and years later, my kids still talk about how awesome it was to help someone else like that.

Moved my car out of the road when it broke down and gave me a ride to my parent's house - this was many years ago, but I've never forgotten the kindness.

Good question this might seem lame but i thought it was really thoughtfull, i was cleaning my apartment and i put the trash outside my door to take down stairs and when i came out it was gone.
when some tells you that you left your car lights on. thats nice to.
