I am a guy dressing up as a Debutante for Halloween (its meant to be fun). Since I have around shoulder length hair anyway I am getting a real updo. My sister has also arranged for a ball gown as a dress with some heeled shoes. I've only been fitted for the dress so far, not had a chance to wear it for any length of time. I have two questions.

1. The bottom of the dress is really big - long and wide. Can you even sit down in one of those and do you just sit down like normal or not?

2. Climbing stairs in a dress like this. Or even dancing. How do you know where your feet are LOL?

Thanks

K

to sit you should grab ahold of it at about your thighs, lift it a little bit and then sit otherwise it might fly up and show your...uh...panties. and with stairs just lift the front of it a little so you dont trip

If it's a crinoline, just sit down normally (well, daintily). If it's a hoop skirt, grab the topmost hoop to sort of collapse the skirt like a Slinky as you sit. If it has only one hoop, be very very careful and practice sitting, as a single-hoop skirt is prone to flipping up and exposing unmentionables.

Climbing stairs- gather a bit of the skirt and hike it a bit (practice helps) so you don't step on it. With hoops, you can also often use that as a handle. Dancing shouldn't be problematic unless the hem of the skirt is longer than floor length- the crinoline or hoops will actually help keep you from stepping on it.

1. Yes it's ok to sit down but don't cross your legs

2. As a lady would when going up any steps, you lift one side to expose your feet so that you don't trip up. Dancing you have to be elegant and gentle and move taking little steps

hold up the bottom of the dress when you dance. and be careful with heels. dont step on the dress or twist an ankle. sitting is easy.
