Well my dear I was induced with my first child, I take it this is your first? There really isn't anything you should be scared of no, however there are certian things to be aware of when you are induced sometimes the drug they give you patocin can make you have extremely high blood pressure which can be dangerous but they will monitor. sometimes you can be induced for hours on end and nothing still happen and then you end having a c-section.. you get really hungry because they won't let you eat anything when you are being induced.. sucks :( but my dear honestly there isn't to much more to worry about that isn't out of the ordinary worrying that one does when they have a baby in normally.. Just trust in yourself, and your doctor.. And most of all the good Lord above and all shall be fine.. I will keep you and yours in my prayers... God Bless

No, I don't think you should be scared. I was induced with my son and I thought it was a lot nicer than just having my water break out of the blue. The way they induced me was they started the potasium drip real slow and then monitored me for about 5 hours. I was able to do just about everything (more importantly sleep) through all this. Then my doctor, who is actually my aunt, broke my water, and then it was just maybe an hour or so later my son was born. I do suggest the epideral. It helped out greatly. I'm now pregnant with my second and I know I will chose to get induced again. Email me if you have any more questions. My friends call me Symba.

Congratulations! You are at the end of a long journey. Trust me, the reward is worth it all.
Inducements are actually fun. You know when the baby is coming, you can call Grandma, Daddy will know when to take you to the hospital, the whole nine yards.
I had an inducement with my first two girls (28 weeks pregnant with daughter # 3), and I loved it. If you have a staff in the maternity ward like I had, you will be pleased with their attention. The doctors and nurses explained everything to me as it was happening, and I didn't have time to ask any questions, becasue they answered them before I could ask.
Don't be scared. This is what you've been waiting for!

I was induced with my first baby and it started at 5:00 p.m. Sat. and she wasn't delivered until 9:45 p.m. Sun. I wasn't in any pain, the nurses kept asking but I didn't feel anything. The only thing I felt was two very low contractions and then the baby was out. I was more scared at that moment than anything because the nurse had checked me and told me that I was no where ready for delivery. She walks out and the next thing I know that baby is coming out herself. So don't worry yourself too much about it. Relax and get some much needed rest, eat well before it because you won't be allowed to eat anything during it, and have someone there for company and support. Best wishes to you and Baby!

Nothing to be scared of. I was induced all three times. It took around eleven hours with the first, and about seven with the other two. When you start to feel pain, just ask for the medicine (if you plan to use it). It's so exciting! Good luck!

I hate doctors who induce - in most cases it is completely unnecessary and is done only for the convenience of the doctor. Yeah, yeah, they say its because you're late but don't you think you're body knows better when the baby should be born than a doctor? If I were you, I'd cancel the inducement and wait to go into labor naturally. Inducement usually means a harder, more intense labor as the drugs cause stronger contractions. Go natural and just relax - its not nearly as bad as they make it out in the movies.

No, not at all. But let me tell you that the contractions will be double and faster. I was induced for my last pregnancy and it was crazy. But it only lasted 3 hours. Good luck!

If this is your first child prepare your self it takes your body awhile to figure out what is going on. So relax and it is done all the time. If this is your 2 or 3 child your body will know what is going on and it will be much of the same. GOOD LUCK

Well, I would be scared. Or at least stressed out. I would not do it unless there was a serious medical need for it. There are all kinds of direct and indirect risks associated with induction, including stalled labor, c-section, uterine rupture, need for pain medication (which carries its own risks), distress to the infant, hemorrhage in third stage, episiotomy, etc.
Here's a good place to start learning about it: http://www.hencigoer.com/articles/elective_induction/
