Many of the answers are discoveries or beliefs rather than inventions. The worst invention by far is the nuclear bomb.

Tobacco, drugs, alcohols........everyone can notice that they are bad for humans.
Religions........maybe if you are a religious freak.
Military, navy, and air-force......what's the real reason for people to kill other people in groups (I'll kill the people who give me orders).
Murders and suicides..........seems like most people who like to murder and suicide are in military, navy, and air-force already.
Here are the three of the worst things that humans have created:
Cultures, Languages, and Humans.....Who cares if you can speak 20 languages and understand 20 cultures or you can't speak at all and you can't understand anything. And what's the reason to have children when you know that they will just repeat the mistakes that the people before you had made already.

Worst inventions?
I would say that every torture instrument devised by man would be amongst those ranks. Human creativity at its worst.
Weapons come second, especially weapons that are not considered honourable (chemical weapons and guns as opposed to the sword and knuckle-bracer).

-Individualism.
-Money.
-The concept of your freedom to breed as many kids as you want and remain socially irresponsible and unaccountable for their impact on the environment
-Economy(a higher popultion means more money for the few at the top)
-Corperations.Did you know that they have the same legal rights as an individual, but a million more times the wealth and power of one?
-resin, that stuff that they are making knick knacks out of now. All junk. There is n advantage to that stuff.
-Nuclear power. engins that rn on fossil fuels. Herbicides, pesticides, fertilizer.
-Heck. It probably all goes back to the discovery of fire.

Tin openers (before left handed ones were invented). We left handers (corriepaws) always found them difficult to use and had to adapt. I also found it difficult to write with an ink fountain pen.
The atomic bomb.
Discovering how to destroy millions of years of evolution in a matter of decades.

Although the combustion engine is a close second. If we didn't have fossil fuel based economies maybe we would have evolved to a higher technology that doesn't destroy the environment so easily.

Well its not exactly an invention, but the man who invented T.N.T....his name was something Noble...thats why theres a noble prize, the man felt so bad about inventing tnt (bombs) that he spent his life savings to invent the noble prize to any scientist who made a Positive discovery, or one that helped man-kind!
