I was one of those intense guys, taking everything seriously, grades, all that. Well, one day it all blew up... I didn't get a job I know I deserved, and I know I was the best candidate for (because I happened to know someone at the company in HR) because of an unrelated political agenda. What the...? I was so upset, so miserable, so enraged... I couldn't stand it... I smashed stuff... I yelled... I punched the wall... and after I had my little temper tantrum... I thought long and hard about how it made me feel. How I *let* it make me feel. And I decided I didn't have to do that... and I didn't want to do that. So now when I start feeling all Type-A about stuff... I think about whether it's really worth the spike in my blood pressure. 99% of the time I let it go.

I was the victim of a violent crime that nearly took my life. I think it was at that point that I decided that my life was too important to me to worry about mortgages and appearances. I put my house on the market, packed up my car, and moved halfway across the U.S. on a whim. I am so glad I figured out what was imprtant before it was too late.......

I have never stopped taking life seriously maybe it's because i'm a serious person.
