Imagine the noise in side the womb..blood rushing through veins, heartbeat, stomach growling, hiccups, gas, burps, then not to mention, noises from outside the womb, cars, buses, loud trucks, people talking, kids yelling, doors slamming...
Strangely enough it is probably calming to them...they are use to the loud noises!

Because it's what they are used to from being in the womb. It's pretty loud in there! The vaccum is similar to the sound of the blood flowint through the veins, then there is all the noise from the heartbeat and swallowing, etc. So, it's comforting to have those familiar sounds.
It's also why babies like to be worn in a sling close to mom or dad (or swaddled) because it was pretty close quarters in there!

Your infant si already used to the sounds on your environment. I consistently think of the comparable undertaking as quickly as I actual have a sparkling infant, no longer because of the residence noise yet because of the fact I actual produce different infants. Your little you may initiate listening to what is going on around you at 22 weeks. So by way of the time your infant is born her/ she would be ready to already be acquainted with those sounds and could sleep merely effective.

like the person above, the sounds are something that babies are used to...the sound of the mothers heart, gas, food digesting...so after they are born, which seems traumatic for them, they dont have these sounds that they once recognized and actually helped soothe them in some way...
my son hated the teddy bear with the heart sounds...so i bought one of those nature CD, with water, wind and so on and it helped him alot..its like this, lets say you were raised in the city with no break from sounds, the constant sounds of police cars, fire engines, people talking...then you move to the middle of nowhere, where the only occasional loud sound you get, is a small airplane above...but the dead silence is kind of creepy because you are not used to things being that quiet....thats how it is for babies

They were used to the loud, rhythmic noises of mom's body when in the womb. Heartbeat, blood flow, digestion, etc. It's got to be fairly noisey in the womb!

Thats what they're use to from the womb. It's comforting to them. Coming out into the world is a shock and hearing those loud rhythmic sounds comfort them. That's why, I think. :)

well have you ever put your head under water, in the tub and listened to the sounds around you ??? everything is amplified, and yet slightly muffled...so while in the womb you are in much the same environment ( surrounded by water ) it is relaxing to them. I guess as we get older we forget those times and the loud noise wakes us up.

rythmic noises remind the newborn of the heartbeat they heard for the first nine months or their life and of the sounds they heard outside of their shelter
