just started using Maple and i have a couple of quick questions
1. can you get an answer to x decimal places as opposed to x sig.figs?
2. how do i transform 1/(root2 +1) into an expression of the form A+B(root2)?

I know maple but I don't have the program on this computer or the book on me. I know that there is a way to do your first question. As for the second, I would try to multiply the numerator and denominator by the conjugate like you do in algebra. So enter command >x*((root 2 -1)/(root 2 -1)), and see what happens. The help menu on maple is pretty good, it sometimes takes a long time to find what you want. Also there are maple help pages.
