Who knows exactly why Kobe change his number?

its a mystery...
1. they say because it was his number in high school
2. they say that it is close to mj's number that's why he picked it
3. they say that he wants to start fresh for the second half of his career, hence the change of number
overall, kobe didn't really specify why he changed his number
so lets just focus on getting his new jersey now...

Kobe's number in high school was 24, hence the 24 on his Lakers jersey this season. He felt a change was needed. Some people were thinking that "24 is one better than 23..."

I heard he changed it cuz 24 was his jersey number in high school but I still feel that, in his continued efforts to prove that he is the best to ever play the game, Kobe is trying to send the message that he is 'one-up' on Michael Jordan by adding one to MJ's old jersey number 23.
23+1=24.

24 was his first number is high school, he changed it later to 33, which was hid dads number. When he came into the NBA those numbers were not available so he chose number 8. Now he is changing his number to
"start fresh for the second half of his career"

as a huge kobe fan, it was his high school number and maybe jersey sales. getting a new number increases his salary by increasing his jersey sales cuz everyone wants his new jersey now.
