No, baptisim is the public confession, testiment,what-have-you, that you have accepted Christ as your personal savior and that your sins are washed away. IT IS SYMBOLIC IN NATURE. There is type of baptisim that is far more important for your life that will be your guidance for all your life that will keep you on the path to enter the kingdom of heaven.....THE BAPTISIM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT...He is the spirit of love help and guidance. When you ask for him to come into your heart , (not a public display), He has direct communication with the Lord about your struggles, hurts, and plans for your healing.. therefore living a life of peace and happiness while on this old earth. He will become your helper and will always be there once asked in. Since Jesus died for us, He sent the Holy Spirit to take over for him ---- He (Jesus) loves us that much.

Some people say that it is the first order of obedience, and therefore the failure to be baptized would be a sin, given this idea. Of course, a forgiven sin would not keep you out of heaven, but the easiest course may still just to get baptized.

Where I live you have to be baptised to get a free school bus, but I'm not sure that God has that much bureucracy.

Christ never baptised anyone with water. He did instruct others to baptize with water. Baptism is a symbol of knowing God and the truth. Check with the Sal Army on this.

Well first I would enchourage you to read for yourself and develope your own oppinion. But God says "no you don't have to be baptised in order to get to heaven." The Catholic church may say other wise but they do not decide who gets into heaven.

Only if you're a Christian, and God turns out to be Christian. If God is Jewish and you've not been barmitzvahed you'll be screwed. If God's a Hindi and you've never bothered with Diwali then all those Sundays in church won't help.
Tough decision, picking 1 horse to bet on and gambling your eternal soul!

No. You need to accept Christ as your savior. Baptism is merely a confession of faith. There's no saving power in water. No matter what some Catholics say, you can't get saved through baptism.

That question is analogous to asking; " do you have to be chastised to get into West Point "? Both make about the same amount of sense; none.

Well... If you think you will go to Heaven that way, then yes. I think God likes all people equally.
