You left the great Tazio Nuvolari off your list and you relegated Juan Manuel Fangio to an `Honorable mention'! And no Jim Clark, Jackie Stewart, Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost, Ari Vatanen or Juha Kankkunen. How long have you actually followed racing?
Obviously you are American (you spelled honourable without the `u') and nine of your top 10 and two of your `Honorable mention(s)' are American drivers. The rest of the world also produces great drivers.

Talking about all the motorsports I'm familiar with, my list would be:
1(tied, in my mind) Alain Prost and Ayrton Senna
2. Juan Manuel Fangio, of course
3. Jim Clark
4. Jackie Stewart
5. Tom Kristensen (7-times winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans)
6. Fernando Alonso (youngest back-to-back champion in F1, and out of this list, my personal favourite)
7. Mika Hakkinen and Niki Lauda (F1 champions that came back from the dead).

I didn't put Schumacher in the list, because the fact that his career has been tainted by dozens of controversies turned me away from him.
And I know almost nothing about American motorsport. I just know a certain Nascar driver tried his hand at driving a F1 car in 2003.

I'm not going to take a stab at a complete list, but anyone who submits a list of ten guys without including Ayrton Senna is a complete and total idiot.

Frankly, after that, you've got to include Schumacher, Andretti, Fangio, and Foyt; the rest are all arguable.

You can argue this list all day long, but Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost, Jackie Stewart, Shirley Muldowney, Big Daddy Don Garlits, and Kenny Bernstein are a few names that should be considered.

There is noway to give afair answer.I can see the drivers you picked and they are very good and they are deservant of their mention.
But in all fairness these are the big name drivers who without their heros would not be there for this(these) list.
Jackie Stewart comes to mind as a champion driver and my personal favorite in open wheel.
Sam Ard,Ellis,Farmer ,Gant in late models sportsman(Now Busch)
Rutherford,Bettenhausen,In Indy
Red Byron,The Flock brothes,Darrell Derringer,Curtis turner, in Nascar.
So the list grows and goes on in our own minds for our favorites. So keep the racing green and lets go.
