Maybe the opportunity to advance once you are already established in a particualr corporation. There are no guarantees though. It can increase your earning potential though. In some cases dramatically. But remember, a degree alone cannot help a person. That is a myth that education automatically leads to more opportunity and higher pay. It depends 100% on what you went to school for. A man with a PHD could very well be homeless if he majored in political science, history, philosophy, etc. Believe me! Haha. Anyways, I got off track. An MBA will most likey lead to further success in many areas of business. It could also be helpful if you even have plans on starting your own business.

Most of these answers are mostly correct, I think. My MBA did, in fact, increase my paycheck. It also allowed me to change careers. I also feel like I learned to think about things differently--in a much more analytical, critical way. I also learned a tremendous amount about team building, leadership, presentation preparation and execution--and a lot more.
Of course, I learned a body of knowledge I previously had no experience with. For example, I took in-depth courses on finance, operations (totally cool--would recommend), human resource management, and organizational behavior. I concentrated on strategic management and information technology, neither of which I had much experience with before I started.
There are a good many books in the B&N on whether getting an MBA is right for you, and several helpful ones on how to get into a good MBA program (n.b. try to get into an ACCREDITED program if you can--there are a million U.S. programs out there).
Hope this helps. (Can you tell I really loved my MBA program? I know that makes me biased in answering your question.)

Honestly, a reason to ask for more money when interviewing for a new job. However, most people in business do not hold this degree and have done very well for themselves. An MBA is useful, if you know how to "use" it. Don't get me wrong, it is a good degree, but it is costly investment. So plan accordingly.
