Well yes media is a critical instrument of public sentiments and resentments.Media according to me is very prompt in reacting to cases which have oppurtunity to be sensationalised and portrayed for publicity stunts and in turn damaging the reputation and image of all sorts of personalities,be it shakti kapoor, aamir khan, uma bharti, azharuddin, and the like.Sometimes it is even seen that media tries to exaggerate things and airs only those news which has marginal influence on the overall situation that is prevalent. These media like TV ,newspapers, are turning int o greedy ways of trying to publicise and fire up the people on trivial and irrelevant matters. The latest incidents ,be it political, judicial or the like are testimony to this.To some extent its important for the public to know but such depictions which create an atmosphere of fear and anger is totally unethical and should be condemned.Immoral, unhuman acts shown on TV should be minimised and shown in an appropriate manner.Media are known to even interfere in private lives of people in the search for more sensationalism.I am totally against such illegal acts and hope the people rise and raise their voices against the media so that they don't dare to stoop down to such low levels in gaining publicity!!!!

It is happening bothways as you have said. Who is bothered about the real issues concerning the Nation or the people. Can you name a single political leader who is genuinely concerned for the people.? Or a media which is not going for cheap materials and covers only real issues.

Media adopts issuese and gives them national importance. Journalists are referred to as the gatekeepers of information. The media chooses which stories are newsworthy. Networks are known to be liberal or conservative but it does not play into what is covered.

its both. When they their popularity starts dipping they cover issues that does not really concern people just to raise their popularity without investigating properly, and by this, sometimes innocent person's name is maligned(specially in case of some cheap newspapers). But,sometimes they do expose the real truth.
