They were very insensitive and wrongheaded, and he apologized.

It does appear, though, that Michael J. Fox went off his meds for effect. Apparently he still acts, and the tremors are not present when he does. (If this is not true, then there should be many, many dozens of outtakes showing the tremors.) Also, it's apparently true that Michael J. Fox has set up a foundation and given money for research, but none of that included money for embryonic stem cells. If it's so promising, why has he not put his own money into it?

Rush's assertion that he was faking is wrong, wrong, wrong. But Fox put himself in the arena and has to face the questions.

Fox deserved the attack.

1. Fox has admitted to NOT taking his medication to increase his shaking and thus shock the viewer into sympathizing with him;

2. Fox has lied about Talent's opposition to stem cell research. Talent is not against stem cell research in general, but embryonic stem cell research which has been a major failure. Only ADULT stem cells have been successful;

3. He is part of a long line of Democrat Victim-as-Spokespersons like Cindy Sheehan, the Jersey Girls, Christopher Reeve, etc. The purpose is to prevent the opposition from debating and challenging their claims.

If Fox wants to throw darts at others, he ought to be prepared to get them thrown back, especially when he intentionally misleads and manipulates others. He should be ashamed.

Mr. Limbaugh doesn't know what he's talking about. Michael J. Fox has an advanced case of Parkinson's and he cannot control his movements well. Mr. Limbaugh ought to educate himself before making comments like that about anyone.

They may or may not be right, but we need to get away from the idea that Fox is immune to criticism because he's liberal and a victim of something. This is a continuation of the Sheehan/Plame/Jersey Girls cycle.

Limbaugh knows how to play to his audience too--I think his 'truth in advertising' standard is a little too high on this commercial, if he is right. I haven't seen the commercial yet, just Rush's comments.

JH--didn't know that he immediately apologized--this definitely hasn't been covered well by the press! Did you see the comments when he said them?

he was right on - he said that either he was faking or he didn't take his medication. Fox admitted that he skips his meds when he does ads and things like this. Is Fox immune from criticism when he acts as a shill for some politician and says things that are false?

I was listening to Rush yesterday.
What he SAID was:

Michael J Fox chose not to take his meds for commercials he made for the Democrats running for office. (Mike admits to doing this in his book)
MJF was going after the sympathy vote by doing this. Rush just said that if you CHOOSE this method of "voter appealing" you should not expect to be off limits for criticism. Yes we feel bad for Mike - we just don't think his pity party is one that we want to attend. He is using his disability to get sympathy votes. That is okay IF he is willing to get called out on it.
(I LIKE HIM as an actor and as a Hollywood husband and dad - he seems like a good person) BUT - I do not agree with his beliefs.

It's not about Rush and it's not about Mike. It's about

Rush Limbaugh is an asshole. Why would he pretend to be tremoring on tv, the man is really sick and suffering. But he still has the courage to make public appearances and voice his opinions. Good for him. Rush needs to leave the drugs alone and sometimes it is best to keep you big fat mouth shut if you have nothing descent to say. He is a very negative individual.
