I feel your question, but I don't think Ricky Williams really fits in to the same category as Jack Kerouac and Timothy Leary. However, if you had to pick someone from this generation of athletes that would have been a member of the counterculture movement of the 60's and 70's, I would guess Ricky would fit the mould.
While he basically quit the NFL to smoke weed, he was "active" in other homeopathic activities that would make one believe he is not a big fan of corporate America.

hes playing football in Canada. i happen to live in Austin where he played at UT. i thought he was a nut ball then, then my favorite NFL team sold it's soul to get him in the draft and he flaked there as well. he was diagnosed with some social anxiety or some garbage. then thankfully he left for Miami. another thing you may not know about Ricky Williams is that he's such a moron that he signed "master P" to be his agent and negotiate his first contract. it was ridiculous as well. laden with incentive he'd never see. that's what you get though right?. guy is no genius. i wonder if he can add and subtract. good riddance Ricky. enjoy Canada eh hoser.

He's just another classic case of someone thinking his talent makes him above the law. What a true waste of talent. Biggest dissappointment of a player in my time. He was a truly gifted athlete, that wasted his talent to do what, smoke pot?
