You can walk round for weeks dilated to about 2 cm but after this you may get the stronger contractions and start to feel them then, or you may be 1 of the lucky women who dont feel the labour pains, all tho this is very rare it does happen but you will know when you are it true labour as you will have loads of pressure as though you want a poo and have the urge to bear down and push the mucus you have explained is called a show so this is a good sign labour is on its way good luck and enjoy your last few days or weeks before your little bundle arrives

After 4 kids I can tell you one thing, as corny as it sounds, as many times as you will hear it, you will just know. The pain will be intense and you will notice a difference in the appearance of your belly, it will look smaller and feel tighter. I knew it was labor if I felt the pains in my back as well. If you're getting contractions at regular intervals and can't talk through the pain, you're probably in labor. It could always be false labor but better safe than sorry, see your doctor, get to the hospital and get checked out. Oh and one more thing, "regular intervals" is misleading, with all of my children, and again there were 4, the contractions would be a steady 5 minutes apart, then 7 minutes apart, then go down to 4, back to 5, drop down to 3 ..... I think when they say regular they mean that they continue to come fairly close together and don't decrease in intensity or become 30 minutes apart.

You'll likely start feeling the contractions at some point, and you'll enter "labor land" where you feel like you're in a different state of consciousness and having to really focus inwardly during the contractions. If the baby comes out without any warning, your body is extremely efficient at giving birth, and everything will be fine. It might be good to read up on what to do if you're by yourself, just in case, so that you don't get scared if that's what happens.

Good luck
I also dialated at 34 weeks to 4 cm with my 2nd child and only had mild cramps luckily I nticed they were odd (having been thru labor b4)n went in and my labor was able to be stopped

When you get to that point you WILL know. You will feel contractions and they will get closer and stronger together. I went in with my youngest for a routine app at 37 weeks, i was having contractions the night before and i asked him to check me, i was dialated to 6 and had to rush to the er. After they broke my water, i was feeling contractions quiet strong. You will know when you are in labor so dont worry :) GOODLUCK!!

Yes it could be because your daughter thinks that labor is near or because she's finally realizing that a baby is on the way. My son turned two at the beginning of Dec and lately (the further along I get in this pregnancy; almost 36 weeks) the more he starts to act out. Lately he hasnt been listening to me and it bugs me so much!! Sounds like your daughter is doing the opposite of my son. He's still attached to me and he cries for me in the middle of the night but during the day he doesnt listen. I truly believe that children can sense when labor is near AND sense when a new baby is on the way. Have you and your husband talked to your daughter about the new baby? I havent talked to my son about the new baby because of how the pregnancy came about and because the baby isnt going to make it. Goodluck!! I hope she's able to get along with her new sibiling.

Okay this is going to sound really gross, but I am not trying to be disgusting, it's just the truth. When it's getting closer to time you will feel like you have to take a poop, yes a poop, but it will be like a major feeling and you might even go to the bathroom, but it will not make this pain go away. But these pains do come and go, you should check with your dr. to see how far apart your contractions should be before you go to the hospital. Good luck!

Trust me sweetie, you should know i went throught the same thing with my pregnancy doctors said i was having contractions, but i couldn't feel them several times. But when it was time i knew the contractions came so strong i couldn't walk and they come like 3 every 5 minutes for me, If you know your body then you will know when it's time, i'm guessing it should be within the next week or couple of weeks. good luck

True labor contractions start at the top of your uterus and then spread over the entire uterus, through your lower back and into the pelvis. True labor will become stronger and more painful and won't be alleviated by changing position. As you get closer to your due date, time your pain and see that they are getting closer. Believe me, you will know it!!!
