A baseball field is essentially 1/4 of a circle. Take the the length to first base. Square that and multiply by pi (3.14) and divide by 4.

Since a baseball field has a rounded outfield, you can get a pretty good estimate if you measure from behind home plate, all the way out to the R. field fence, and again from behind home plate to the L. field fence. Simply one distance times the other distance will get you a pretty good estimate.
