How are they made? I understand there could be long tubes with fabric wrapped around them in one piece, but how would neck holes be put in? How do they spin cotton in a tube anyway?

They are KNITTED, like tube socks!

Look at the fabric, and you will see the stockinette stich that they are knitted in.

Polyester, rayon and spandex could be washed interior the washing device. Wash it in chilly water. My guess is the rayon is going to go away you with a wrinkled mess so get rid of it from the dryer early and dangle it up right now. Knited on a large machine..cut, cut holes for neck & arms, trim neck & arms & bottom...done!
