I recently watched the movie The Skeleton Key. Hoodoo was a big part of that movie. Does it really exist?

Yup, it's real. You have to test and judge it for your self to be sure though. It's one of those subtle things that cannot be tested any other way.

Someone that practices Hoodoo is called a rootworker. The main practice is about folk remedies. We use herbs, stones, and other natural items to bring about a desired effect. Sympathetic magic is used the most. Voodoo dolls actually started from Hoodoo. On the website luckymojo.com you can find a couple of e-books and a course on Hoodoo. This is the best site I found that can help to explain Hoodoo. I plan on taking the course soon. I have already been trough the book because a friend of mine has taken it. It is great learning experience.

You oughta read the book We're Not in Kansas Anymore--the author interviews the woman whose hoodoo shop was recreated 100%-accurately for the movie. It's a really interesting book.

The author interviewed vampires, witches, hoodoo and voodoo workers...she came out not particularly skeptical afterwards, though she really didn't believe in occult stuff beforehand. Great book!

I think if you believe in something strongly enough, it becomes real to you. In the movie The Skeleton Key, only those who believed in hoodoo could be harmed by it. Sometimes one's beliefs can become very powerful, especially if the person with these beliefs is open to the power of suggestion.

hoodoo is as real as the person that does it. If you believe it is real than it is

Yes it is real. But don't trust the way movies depict it. It is very different in real life.

Read a little about it.
