I don't know - but they look pretty goofy!!!!:) My teenage girls call them "emos" - susposedly they are emotional.
Here is a good defintion for emos that I found:
emos:
is used to decribe a variety of persons who, in a sense, create their own self destruction. To their own demise they try to stay away from so called "pop culture" while forming their own "uniqueness". Unfortunately they all derive upon the same style, which leads to them all looking and acting the same way. Their absolute resentment towards mainstream media and culture froces a semi-subculture in which the aforementioned transduce themselves into a contained category. Altough previous definitions covered a wide variety of definitions, the typical emo character will prove to only show his/her "emoness" when cavorting with people or persons who agree with their own tastes and sentimental passions. Also you must listen to semi- coroded late 80's early 90's punk knock off bands.

Because some people like to express their individuality by the way they dress. It says who they are -- at least to themselves! This is especially true of the younger set.
In other instances, when a fashion fad takes hold, its followers will abide by it if they feel it enhances their appearance or makes them feel important and stand out in a crowd.
So I guess you just have to grin and bear it until the next style craze comes along.

Alright, I guess see your point, sort of. But what is wrong with guys wearing 'slim' jeans or jeans with a trimmer fit? Where is it written that guys MUST wear jeans that are big, baggy and otherwise stupid looking? Do you mean to say only 'girls' are allowed to wear clothes that actually fit?

You've forgotten the ones whose jeans come down so far that their ar$e is hanging out. Why bother putting them on at all? And who wants to see someone else's greying, bobbling grundies?

the numbers of annoying looking freaks walking down the street is on the increase, i find it worrying when i see an 18 year old **** who takes longer to get ready than i do! I'm showing my age but i hate them!!!!!!!

i know what you mean! if u ask me, they are either ; gay, in need of some fashion advice, or just weird! but don't be to mean remember, they might have a really great personality!
