I have seen them many times, I find them fascinating, unexplainable and no I wouldn't call the cops because they would never believe you anyway.
I try and find logical answers for what I see, but when I can find no reasonable answer, then I just hope that next time I see one, someone will witness the same with me.

I would take a picture & I would also choose to Keep it to myself, your number 2 answer. Because I would take the time to try and determine exactly what that Unidentified Flying Object was.
There are many of them in the sky at any given moment, & most of them do not equate with alien encounters. They are merely objects in the air that are not identified, which means they might be anything from an experimental aircraft, to a set of instruments sent aloft for research, and many other possibilities.

I'd use my brain, and realize there's probably a perfectly natural explanation for what I saw that doesn't have anything to do with aliens, and try to find out what it is. When I found the natural explanation (and I would), I'd be happy about gaining some new knowledge.

Keep it to myself, besides telling my Family and friends would only verify that fact to them that I'm crazy!!!

Well, I would first start a fire to my trailer park, and then I'd call the Weekly World News and tell them about it for money
