My favorite memory from halloween was when my brother dressed up as the tin man and my sister dressed up as the wicked witch and i dressed up as dorothy from the wizard of oz. We won the best costumes that year and i still have a picture of it.

When one of the mother's got on an overhang of a roof and dressed as a witch and scarred the crap out of a lot of kids - she had a shrill voice to begin with and her 'cackle' was so realistic! Another fun memory was a nice man who would come to the door and pretend he couldn't hear nor see us, and we had to explain ourselves...who we 'were' and what we wanted, etc...sweet memories of fun times...
('bill w' and 'surfadude' - hilarious stories...thanks!)

All of us neiborhood kids decided to toliet paper the mean old ladies house on the end of the block... and as we were doing it she came outside and we almost got caught but he all hide in the tall grass for about 30 minutes till she decided to go back inside. I was like six so my oldest brother had to like old his hand over my mouth so we didn't get caught.

Or the time that a bunch of us decided to toliet paper my youth pastor's house and he caught us and we all went running down the street to where one of my friend's mom was hiding with the run away van and my pastor caught me and like tackled me to the ground. Then he decided to go with us to toliet paper some of the kids houses in our youth group.. Good times

when i was 17 i dressed up as a ghost, made myself look like a prop and sat on my bench next to a candy dish, then when kids (not too young) would go for the candy i would jump up and scare them and my step dad videotaped it from the car so nobody could see and i watched it over and over it was so hilarious

...going around to different farms and singing a song such as the national anthem to the people before we got our candy. That was the tradition for us then, but now it's gimme, gimme, gimme.

That's how I learned the words to O Canada.
