Why do liberal democrats not want people to be responsible for themselves?

Is it their master plan to control everyones lives as communist states?
1.They whine about no national free health care plan
2.They now police schools with no snacks or sodas
3.They are trying to out law smoking but what will they tax next?
4.They complain about the homeless but the majority of the homeless are mentally ill and due to a liberal,they got kicked out of mental institutions and released to the streets for no one to care for them.
5.They continually want to raises or impose more taxes to bring more people to the poverty level.
6.They are for free health care,housing and feeding of illegals which we as tax payers have to foot the bill.
7.Its acceptable when a liberal democrat is a racist but if a conservative makes a racist statement they want to hang him.Case in point:Howard Dean,Mayor Naygan,Robert Byrd,Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton.
8.Its ok for the democratic party to have sex scandels and conservatives are making big issues out of nothing.

abbydear;not to insult your intelligence but there were poor homeless before Bush got into office,why didnt clinton solve the homeless poor issue?He had 8 years to do so.Health care is a matter of getting a job with insurance which I am divorced and raised two children with no child support and welfare and we had health care because I WORKED.And since the libs find it politically incorrect for children not to have recess or pe in schools we now have fat children.So since parents cannot regulate their childrens intake of fatty foods its the govts place to do so and yes smoking is now outlawed in Omaha Nebraska.

They believe if 10 people can take care of one person it makes it easier on everyone. They fail to remember the 10 people though. But those 10 people are rich and can afford to take care of another person. Oh wait, I had my numbers backwards. The libs think it is okay for 1 person to take care of 10 so that those 10 are closer to being equal to the 1 taking care of them. As Willy Wonka once said, "strike that, reverse it".

The question you pose presupposes that liberal democrats don't want anyone to be responsible for their actions. It would be like me asking "Why do conservatives only ask rhetorical questions? "

Open your mind a bit. A school without junk food and sodas? Given this country's problem with obesity and diabetes, and given that eating habits are formed early in life, it sounds like a great idea to me.

High taxes on cigarettes? Maybe if the taxes were higher fewer people would be burdening taxpayers and anyone who pays a health insurance policy. 400,000+ people who die from a tobacco related illness each year, and many more are in need of expensive health care that you and I pay for through higher premiums. This industry kills 100 times more Americans than 9/11 did...every year. I think this makes it a fair target for taxation and regulation.

Your fourth point about the homeless and mentally ill reduces an incredibly complex problem down to one cause: there are homeless people because some liberal kicked them out of a mental hospital. This isn't backed up by any real research. All the homeless people are there because a liberal put them there sure sounds good though!

In short, you seem like another conservative who likes to take credit for all that is good and blame liberals for all that is bad. Wake up!

1. Health care should be a right, not the privelege of the wealthy. To think otherwise is utter and complete selfishness. We were once the healthiest nation on earth. No more.
2. I don't think police enforce snacking regulations. However, I have no problem with only having healthy snacks in schools. Schools are to act in loco parentis when our children are there. If I want them to have un-healthy snacks or sodas, I'll put it in their lunchboxes. It isn't the school's job to sell my child Cokes and Twinkies.
3. I hate smoking bans and think it should be left up to individual businesses. And where I live, it's been Republican communities that have been banning smoking more frequently than Democratic communities (because there aren't that many Democratic communities where I'm from).
4. Acutally, it's Republicans who take their lobbying money from insurance companies who refuse to pass laws that place mental illness and addiction on the same level with physical illness. Also, under Bush 1 and Bush 2, aid to the severely mentally ill has been cut. In addition, Bush 2 and his Republican cronies have made more federally-mandated healthcare programs that he refuses to give money to the states for tha the has forced the closing and mass scaling back of two mental health facilities in my city. The result? Highest murder rate in years. Coincidence? I think not? (By the way, this point contradicts your first point).
5. Under Bush, poverty has increased 20%. While the average income has increased, it's a false statistic, because it's in the high increases of the wealthy where all of this growth is occurring. Job growth has been stagnant (at the same level as population growth), and more people are in poverty.
6. Falsehood. Your president is in favor of such things. Most Democrats support only emergency care. I support a guest worker program. Already, thousands of tons of fruit thoughout the West and Midwest has rotted on the vine this season. No one would take the jobs to pick them. I am for LEGAL immigration, but we have to figure out how to economically fill the holes left by missing immigrant workers. What's your solution for filling that hole?
7. This has nothing to do with politics. Byrd has apologized for his behavior and has made multiple mea culpas. Naygan is one Mayor (the Republican mayor of Spokane got caught sleeping with teenage boys, so I'm not going to accuse you all of doing the same thing). Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are annoying, not racists. I have no idea what you're talking about with Howard Dean, but I've met Howard Dean and I know he's not racist. Perhaps, he's put his foot in his mouth - but you have several times in this post, so there ya go.

8. NOW - here's the one I've been waiting for. When your party claims to have cornered the market on moral values and is unforgiving of even the slightest deviation from pure, Christian sexual mores, you invite such scathing rebukes when one of your commits a sin. If you all had kinder attitudes regarding people sexual pecadillos (especially considering we all know that Republicans are more into S&M than Democrats - see the 2004 and 1994 sex surveys), people wouldn't be so judgmental. This is the "glass houses" issue. If you'd all stop throwing stones, people would let things go and say it was private (although, since Foley involved minors, I don't think that would have worked).

Anyway, the world I imagine is a much better than the world that you and yours have been serving up for 5 1/2 years now. It's time that someone else navigated the ship for a while, before the iceberg hits.

It amazes me that you being the smart guy have not relayed all of this to the Republican Party! After all in case you have been sleeping the past six years they hold a majority in 1) The Senate, 2) The House 3) The Presidency.

Those people will then continue to vote for those that give them everything for nothing and they will remain in power.
