You start from your birth day. The day you were born. Mainly because for centuries we didn't know what was actually happening in there. Doctors declare them born and that is their birth day.

It's because some people don't know when/what day they were conceived and going back 9 months isn't accurate enough. If we went by conception date, there would be too many people unsure of how old they really are.

Because nobody knows the moment and time when one concieves. but the exact time of birth of a child could be recorded as it is tangible and physical. That is the main hurdle to make your question and the answer impractical.

because your not living on your own then. We start calculating age when you are born and breathing on your own, thats when we stop calculating the parents....at the age of 18 is when parents start to live again.

everybody doesnot when they got pregnancy offer letter it is only appointment letter showing after approx 9 months
some borns before 9 months and some after
so to avoid this confusions it is better to
follow a unique code of b days
thats what we are doing now

well, you calculate your age based on the number of birthdays you've had.....and it is called a BIRTH day.

Besides, during the gestation period one might be alive, but still dependent on the mother's womb and nourishment.

Nobody can predict the exact moment a woman gets pregnant. Doctors can guess a round about date but nothing for sure.

Asians do this. They automatically add a year to their "emerged into the world" day.
